2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix Formula 1 Odds, Time, and Prediction

It’s time for the penultimate Formula 1 race of the 2022 season. Even though we already know that Max Verstappen will remain the champion, this doesn’t mean the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix is going to be a boring one.

On the contrary, there’s still a lot to fight for. For instance, this event could be decisive in the race for the no.2 position in the F1 World Drivers’ Championship standings. Will it be Verstappen’s teammate from Red Bull Racing Sergio Perez or Ferrari’s best driver Charles Leclerc?

Max Verstappen Going for His 15th Win in 2022

In 2004, Michael Schumacher set the record for the highest win percentage in a season. He won 72.2% of the races (13 of 18). Fast-forward to 2022 and Max Verstappen has a chance to break that record. If the Dutchman wins the remaining two races, he’s going to get to 72.75%.

He’s got the motivation to win the 2022 Sao Paulo, as well as the skills and the car needed to pull it off. This explains why oddsmakers think of him as a -230 favorite for Sunday’s race.

Sergio Perez vs Charles Leclerc for the #2 Place

After finishing third in Mexico City, Sergio Perez leapfrogged Charles Leclerc to second place in the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship. Red Bull’s second son now has five points more than Ferrari’s top driver.

To stay in the no.2 position, Perez needs to do better than Leclerc at the 2022 Sao Paulo. Can he do it? Oddsmakers aren’t so sure about that. They’re giving +1300 odds on him winning the race. Meanwhile, the odds on Leclerc are more than two times shorter (+550).

Among the reasons why we think bookies are mistaken is that last year, Perez finished one spot higher than Leclerc in Sao Paulo.

2022 Sao Paulo Prediction

It would be crazy not to back Max Verstappen in this race. He’s by far the best driver in 2022 with the best car and the biggest motivation to triumph. He’s going to finish first in Brazil, but who will finish behind him?

We think it’s going to be his teammate Sergio Perez. Red Bull Racing is an ambitious team, and we think they’re going for the top two spots in 2022. That said, apart from backing Verstappen to win the 2022 Sao Paulo, we also think Perez Top 3 Finish is a fantastic bet.

Picks: Max Verstappen to win; Sergio Perez Top 3 Finish
