DraftKings, Bay Mills Celebrate New Sportsbook

After announcing its massive $65 million expansion plan for the spring of 2023, BMIC-owned Bay Mills Resort & Casino officially opened its new permanent retail sportsbook in collaboration with Nasdaq-listed digital gaming and sports entertainment company DraftKings. The resort and casino placed in the upper peninsula in Brimley, Michigan celebrated the much-anticipated opening of DraftKings’s sportsbook with a ribbon ceremony and live game watching. 

What Can Sports Fans expect?

The new DraftKings Sportsbook retail location features added amenities and extra entertainment solutions options for sports aficionados in the state. It has been therefore designed with sports lovers in mind and it hosts in-game wagering and other equally appealing alternatives for bettors, along with adrenaline-pumping live sports event viewing opportunities.  Guests at the opening ceremony already tested the new live game-watching option during the live game between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers displayed on a huge wall consisting of eight HD TVs.

Michigan customers will also discover real-time score updates, together with four kiosks where they can place their wagers and three boards dedicated to the best odds. The casino floor will also host two extra kiosks. All kiosks will be available on a 24/7 basis all throughout the week. The newly opened retail will also run a dedicated cocktail service and it will provide a variety of food options on a daily basis. The beverage and food services will be available Monday through Sunday starting at 11 am ET. 

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 

The event reunited important DraftKings and Bay Mills Resort & Casino leaders, together with representatives of the Sault Ste Marie Chamber of Commerce. Bay Mills Resort & Casino’s general manager Richard LeBlanc took the opportunity to express the company’s excitement regarding the launch of the retail DraftKings Sportsbook in their casino. LeBlanc further explained that by presenting their partnership with DraftKings to guests and members of the local community, the Northern Michigan region is expected to be positively impacted “for years to come.” 

At the same time, DraftKings’s senior director of retail sportsbook operations Michael Kibort expressed their thrill to be expanding their “incredible partnership with the Bay Mills Indian Community,” while generating an amenity that guests will be able to benefit from at one of the top destinations for entertainment in the area. At the beginning of the month, DraftKings published its Q3 results, highlighting impressive revenue due to a successful customer retention strategy.
