IGT Global Services Limited will continue its existing nearly 30-year relationship with Swiss lottery operator, Société de la Loterie de la Suisse Romande until 2031.
IGT is the world lottery heavyweight and serves 8 of the world’s 10 largest lotteries. Société de la Loterie de la Suisse Romande (Loterie Romande) was founded in 1937 with the primary objective of working for the public good.
Loterie Romande provides lottery services for six French-speaking Swiss Cantons. About two-thirds of Swiss Francophiles play with Loterie Romande.
New Responsibilities for IGT Global
The new agreement with IGT sets out long-term commitments with IGT continuing to provide technology to Societe, but also to replace its current backend provider, Camelot Global.
Camelot, the sole operator of the UK lottery since its inception, recently lost a bid to continue its contract. Allwyn, formerly known as Sazka was chosen as the UK National Lottery provider. Allwyn has subsequently entered into an agreement to acquire Camelot.
Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, Loterie Romande CEO said of the new agreement with IGT (formerly Lottomatica/GTECH): “IGT has partnered with Loterie Romande for nearly 30 years, supplying us with the most advanced lottery hardware, systems, and services that have maximized our contributions to good causes throughout the six French-speaking cantons in Switzerland where our players live.
“We trust that by converting to IGT’s iLottery system, we will be equipped with faster access to player data and analytics to ensure we offer the best player experience possible and responsibly drive sales growth to further benefit charitable organizations.”
Jay Gendron, IGT’s Chief Operating Officer, Global Lottery commented: “This extension agreement between Loterie Romande and IGT builds upon our comprehensive long-term partnership and represents the next evolution in supplying Swiss lottery players with unrivaled experiences.”
IGT iLottery Takes LoRo to the Cloud
Massive technological changes are coming to the system, bringing it up to current and future security and other technical levels.
The lottery will migrate its current digital system to the cloud giving it dynamic scalability and faster innovation-to-market enhancements. Big data from the world’s largest lottery provider will also play a role in improving the overall player experience, according to a press release from the company.
Insights and data were mentioned but no specific reference to artificial intelligence was given regarding the company’s iLottery system incorporates a host of comprehensive responsible gaming features. Lotteries are currently not regulated under the same frameworks as other iGaming.
The press release further stated: “In addition to the new iLottery system, IGT will continue delivering Loterie Romande with its Aurora core lottery central system that offers agile elements designed to drive lottery innovation and profitability. IGT will continue to provide Loterie Romande with a customized electronic lottery system.”
