In a shock move, Pokimane, real name Imane Anys, has announced her exit from streaming platform Twitch. She has 9.3 million followers on the platform, making her the tenth most-followed user. In her announcement on X Tuesday night, she described it as “the end of an era.”

Kick streamer Roshtein left a tongue-in-cheek comment in response to the news on X, referencing the high-value gambling deals that have led many to trade platforms to Kick:

It is almost certain that Roshtein is joking given Pokimane’s vehement and very public anti-gambling stance. She was one of the main influencer’s who urged Twitch to ban gambling content in 2022, claiming it allowed for more people to become addicted at young ages. An X post in which she asked her followers to “like if twitch should ban gambling” received close to 300,000 likes.

Roshtein, Trainwreck, Xposed and other major stars transitioned to the gambling-friendly platform

It is unclear whether Pokimane intends to retire from streaming altogether or if she is leaving Twitch for another platform. Crypto casino Stake launched the streaming platform Kick at the end of 2022 as a result of Twitch’s ban on unregulated gambling content. Roshtein, Trainwreck, Xposed and other major stars transitioned to the gambling-friendly platform.

Kick also had some fun in response to the Pokimane news. Its official X page shared an image of the streamer’s cookie brand within a frame it usually reserves for signings:
