Yellow police tape

A man who was wrongly convicted of a murder he didn’t commit has died in suspicious circumstances near the World Resorts casino.

On October 29, 2023, medical personnel responded to a call involving a man suffering from injuries related to a “purported accident,” according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

The man, who was later identified as 47-year-old Christopher Tapp, was transported to hospital where he later died.

Detectives are now saying that his death wasn’t accidental and that it has turned into a homicide investigation. Police say they have learned that there was an altercation inside a hotel room before paramedics were called.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office says Tapp died from a blunt force trauma to his head, ruling his death as a homicide. Police have not identified any suspects.

In 2019, Tapp was exonerated and awarded $11.7m following a settlement from law enforcement after being wrongly convicted of a murder he didn’t commit. Before the settlement, Tapp had spent 20 years in prison.
