The biggest 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event is still increasing in size as late registration is still open until the start of Day 2d. After registration closed on Day 2abc another 196 players joined the field bringing the total number up to over 9,500 entries and the prize pool surpassed the $90,000,000 mark.

Halfway through the second level of the day, Guy Fieri walked into the main tournament room with a lot of noise to present the Main Event bracelet and everyone knows what they’re playing for now when they get back for Day 3 at 12:00 p.m. local time on July 9.

Brammer Continues to Lead After Day 2abc in the WSOP Main Event World Championship

Day 39 of the 2023 WSOP saw Event #76: $10,000 WSOP Main Event World Championship continue with Day 2abc. Roughly 3,900 players returned with registration still open until the end of level 7. In total, 1,877 players found a bag at the end of the night with Day 1c chip leader Christopher Brammer leading the way with 879,000 chips.

Other players that managed to build a big stack include Julio Belluscio (825,500), 2019 Main Event final tablist Nick Marchington (716,000), Patrik Antonius (584,500), and Gary Benson (572,000). Ronnie Bardah (519,000) and Shota Nakanishi (500,500) are also bracelet winners who finished with over half a million chips while Stephen Chidwick (472,500) and Cole Ferraro (454,000) were just shy of that mark.

Many players were forced to the rail and saw their Main Event hopes slashed as the field was trimmed to just 1,900 players. The most notable elimination came at the expense of the 2022 WSOP Main Event champion Espen Jorstad in the second level of the day. Jorstad flopped a set of sixes but it was no match for the flopped straight of Julian Aguirre. With the defending champion out of contention, the opportunity has opened up for a new player to grab the reigns and make their mark on poker history.

For the majority of the previous Main Event winners, it was a rather successful day with eight of them finding a bag at the end of the night. Damian Salas (147,500), Joe McKeehen (220,000), Martin Jacobson (128,000), Ryan Riess (151,000), Joe Cada (241,500), Jamie Gold (248,000), Johnny Chan (372,000), and Tom McEvoy (20,000) will all be returning on Day 3 and looking to make their way into the money.

Day 1 of Event #78: $1,500 Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha Wrap Up; Satar Al-sadoun Amongst Leaders

Day 1 of Event #78: $1,500 Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha concluded at the 2023 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas with only 14 levels of play completed instead of the 15 levels that were scheduled. The start time was pushed back by two hours to accommodate the record-setting field in the 2023 WSOP Main Event.

The 1,214 entrants generated a prize pool of $1,620,690 with a first-place prize of $171,742 not including any won bounties. Each player entered the fray with a $500 Bounty on their head and the action was plentiful as a result. When the day was done there were just 140 remaining after a full evening of battle.

Daniel Negreanu (271,000) was among the survivors after he was eliminated from the WSOP Main Event earlier in the day. Plenty of other professionals including Nacho Barbero (240,000) and Jeff Madsen (252,000) also found bags returning to Day 2.

Shaun Deeb made a quick cameo in the field, as he still had a seat in the Main Event seat and was just making a quick attempt at running up a stack.

Chase Blanton Leads Day 1a of Event #77: Lucky 7’S No-Limit Hold’em

After 11 hours of play, Event #77: $777 Lucky 7’S No-Limit Hold’em at the 2023 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas saw WSOP ring winner Chase Blanton (2,265,000) end the night with the chip lead. The eighth year of this unique event saw plenty of action and swings throughout the opening day.

Blanton leads 64 survivors back into play on Monday, July 10th, at 10 a.m. local time with many notable names close behind him in the chip counts, including 2007 Main Event winner, Jerry Yang (1,350,000), as well as bracelet winner Peter Thai (1,040,000) and Taiwanese Pro Lin Hua Wei (1,575,000).

Players will have another chance at qualifying for Day 2 on Day 1b in this unlimited re-entry tournament on Saturday, July 8th at 10 a.m. local time.

What to expect on Day 40:

Day 2d of the Main Event starts at 12:00 p.m. local time with an incredible 3,202 returning. Registration is still open until the end of level 7, which is the second level of the day. They will play five 120-minute levels before the day is done and the field finally combines on Day 3, July 9th.

The early birds can give Event #77: $777 Lucky 7’s No-Limit Hold’em (7-Handed) a shot with the shuffle up and deal announced at 10 a.m. local time. Event #78: $1,500 Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha continues at 2 p.m. local time.

at 3:30 p.m. local time players can fight it out on the online felt again with Online Event #15: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship starting and finishing on Day 40.
