Isaac Haxton is already a poker legend. But on Thursday, he just might add the one important missing notch to his resume — a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet.
The future Poker Hall of Famer enters Day 3 of Event #16: $25,000 High Roller (8-Handed) with about an average stack and 13 of the 301 players remaining. First place will pay $1,698,215.
For “Ike,” arguably the best to have never won a bracelet, winning the tournament would bring his overall Hendon Mob results over $37 million. More importantly though for his legacy, he’d win an event in the most prestigious annual poker series in the world, and that counts for something.

Just Missing One Thing
Haxton, who previously represented both PartyPoker and PokerStars as an ambassador, is one of poker’s all-time winningest live tournament players. With $35.8 million in Hendon Mob cashes, he currently sits in 14th place all-time. But only Cary Katz and Steve O’Dwyer, who hasn’t competed in the WSOP for years, have higher tournament earnings but don’t have a bracelet.
Beyond cashing for an absurd amount, the New York native has tournament wins at the European Poker Tour (EPT), U.S. Poker Open, Poker Masters, and his most memorable victory, a career-defining $3.6 million score for winning the $300,000 buy-in 2018 Super High Roller Bowl.
Haxton has never been a full-schedule grinder at the World Series of Poker. He mostly plays a small amount of high roller tournaments and some online bracelet events. Out of his 32 cashes, five have been online on GGPoker. His last live WSOP cash came in 2018 when he finished fourth in a $50,000 high roller.
Facing Tough Competition
If Haxton were to have grinded out 30-40 event schedules for a dozen years like many other players, he’d almost certainly have a bracelet by now. The likely future Poker Hall of Famer is in the money in the $25k for the first time at the WSOP since 2018 and is guaranteed a minimum payout of $79,335.
The top two spots will pay over $1 million, and reaching that point won’t be easy given the stiff competition remaining. Roman Hrabec will enter Day 3 with the chip lead at 6,050,000. Haxton’s in sixth place with 3,820,000, about 1,000,000 chips below his Day 2 peak.
Joao Vieira (4,090,000), Brian Rast (3,965,000), Darren Elias (2,790,000), and Kristen Foxen (2,675,000) are among the heavy hitters still in the hunt. Rast is chasing his sixth bracelet, which could be huge in his quest to reach the Poker Hall of Fame soon, perhaps in 2023.
Haxton, on the other hand, won’t become eligible for the HOF until 2026. A bracelet win on Thursday just might secure his spot in poker’s most exclusive club three years from now. Furthermore, he could take his name off the “Best Poker Players without a Bracelet” list.
While big changes are coming to gambling sponsorships in the English Premier League (EPL), the lower tiers of English soccer are still heavily reliant on relationships with these types of companies.
The English Football League (EFL), which looks after the professional soccer leagues below the EPL, has agreed to a five-year extension to its existing agreement with Sky Bet, making the operator the EFL’s title partner until the end of the 2028-2029 season.
Sky Bet will also contribute £1m ($1.2m) each season to the EFL’s Community Fund
The new deal is reportedly worth 50% more than the previous rights fee, with much of the money going toward helping sustain clubs financially. The Flutter Entertainment-owned Sky Bet will also contribute £1m ($1.2m) each season to the EFL’s Community Fund.
Both the EFL and Sky Bet are committed to promoting safe gambling in a variety of ways, including through a player education program and responsible gambling campaigns.
There has been a push to drive out gambling sponsorship from English soccer. EPL clubs recently agreed to no longer showcase gambling sponsors on the front of their shirts, starting in the 2026-2027 season. This does not extend to EFL clubs, as they often rely heavily on gambling-related sponsors.

Recently, Stockholm-based LeoVegas Group, a flagship global iGaming company offering online casino, live casino and sports wagering, received three five-year licenses, the so-called “B2B licenses”, by the Swedish Gambling Authority to manufacture and provide gaming software in Sweden. However, these licenses, which will take effect from July 1, 2023, have been given to the Blue Guru Games, the company’s game studio, and two platforms.
Certain companies are required to have a Swedish license:
Licenses are something of a key importance for providing software to licensed operators and a key step in stopping unlicensed gaming companies from strengthening their influence on the Swedish gaming market.
In this regard, taking effect from July 1, 2023, under the Swedish Gambling Act, firms that manufacture, provide, install or modify game software used in online gaming must hold a license.
An important player in the iGaming industry:
Since its establishment, LeoVegas Group has consistently worked towards rapid growth, which has led it to develop from an operator to an integral player within the iGaming industry value chain through the evolution of games and platform. Moreover, having now received the aforementioned three five-year B2B licenses from the Swedish Gambling Authority, it can proudly state that it continues to move in the right direction. However, as noted above, these licenses were originally given to Blue Guru Games and the company’s two platforms (PAM). Commenting on the new licenses, Gustaf Hagman, CEO of LeoVegas Group, said: “We welcome the introduction of B2B licenses, a decisive step towards mitigating the impact of key gaming software being simultaneously provided to licensed operators and unlicensed operators targeting Swedish players. With the new regulations in force, it is now critical that authorities focus on those suppliers deliberately undermining the Swedish licensing system by facilitating unlicensed gaming.”
On May 1, LeoVegas Group revealed its plans to purchase Push Gaming, which is also licensed by the Swedish Gambling Authority and possess two B2B licenses. The purchase is projected to be finished in the third quarter of 2023.
B2B licensing system:
In 2019, the initiation of Swedish gaming licenses marked an important reform for the regulation and supervision of gaming companies operating in Sweden. Additionally, this reform strengthened regulations related to marketing and consumer protection, while providing notable gambling tax income. However, the B2B licensing system relies heavily on the capacity of the Swedish Gambling Authority to limit key gaming software that is for licensed Swedish companies to be used concurrently by unlicensed operators whose sole aim is to lure Swedish players.
After a grueling day that went into the poker equivalent of overtime, Brian Yoon defeated Dan Shak heads-up to claim the title in World Series of Poker Event #14: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
For his victory over the 131-entry field, Yoon earns the champion’s share of $311,433 from the $1,209,000 prize pool.
More historically, though, Yoon becomes just the 33rd player in WSOP history to earn five bracelets, joining the likes of Hall of Famers Eli Elezra and John Juanda, perennial WSOP Player of the Year contender Shaun Deeb, and one of the most recent additions to the five-timers club, Adam Friedman, who got his fifth last year.
Yoon was humble about the achievement when asked about it after his victory.
“Honestly, I don’t try to bracelet hunt or anything like that, I’m just trying to play the tournaments and enjoy playing the games. It feels great, obviously, to be the 33rd to get number five, so I’ll take it and see what happens in the future.”

Of Yoon’s five bracelets, this is his second in a mixed game, having won the $1,500 2-7 Triple Draw event last year, a game he said is maybe his best. The well-rounded Yoon acknowledged that this bracelet was special because of the game that it came in.
“Stud, I’ve been working on this game a little bit, so it feels nice to break through in a game where you weren’t sure where you stacked up, and then you’re able to win. It feels good.”
As for Shak, while a runner-up finish with a chance for his first-ever WSOP bracelet is surely disappointing, he can take solace not just in the $192,479 second prize but the fact that along with his seventh-place finish in the $1,000 Mystery Millions event earlier in the series, he’s well in the early mix for WSOP Player of the Year.

The Day’s Action
The 13 returning players were thinned to the unofficial final table within the first couple of levels of the day, starting with Julien Martini’s elimination in 13th, followed by maybe a somewhat surprising elimination of Chad Eveslage in 12th, considering he’s already won two bracelets this summer.
Following the quick back-to-back eliminations of David “Bakes” Baker in 11th and Alex Livingston in 10th, the final nine were moved to the mothership to continue to a winner.
Johannes Becker, who fought back from fumes earlier in the day managed to ladder up to ninth, and from there, it took over two hours before Day 2 chip leader Max Hoffman was the next elimination in eighth place, with Leonard August following him out shortly after in seventh.
At this point of the final table, the two top stacks, Maxx Coleman and Yoon began to pull away from the rest of the field, with short stacks Ben Diebold and Ben Yu playfully needling each other about who would be the next to bust.
It turned out to be Diebold, who fell in sixth place just before dinner.
After the final five returned from their 60-minute break, Yu managed to ladder up as George Alexander was eliminated in fifth place. Yu battled back to a seven-figure stack, but his comeback was short-lived as Coleman finally took him out in fourth place.
Shak was the notable short stack at this point, but things took a turn three-handed as Coleman ran very cold, losing several key pots to Yoon that gave him a solid chip lead.
Things got even worse for Coleman as Shak passed him in the leaderboard, and before long, Coleman became the penultimate elimination of the day, leaving Yoon and Shak to battle for the bracelet, a matchup that Yoon even admitted he wasn’t expecting.
“Honestly, I expected to get heads-up against Maxx because me and Maxx kind of had all the chips through the whole (final table). I respect Maxx’s game a lot, I think he’s a very good player, so I was kind of prepping myself to play him. Then we got three-handed, and I just coolered Maxx over and over and over, and he lost all of his chips.”
Over the duration of their nearly two-hour-long heads-up battle that needed to go to an extra level to determine a winner, Shak fought back from the brink of elimination several times, at one point nearly overtaking Yoon.
But in the end, it was a Broadway straight for Yoon versus two pair for Shak that finally clinched victory for Yoon.

For nearly a decade now, judge after judge has ruled that Pennsylvania skill games known by the Pace-O-Matic name are legal in the commonwealth. yet prosecutors and agents of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Liquor Control and Enforcement (BLCE) seem hell-bent on finding a jurist who will take their side in the matter of “Chance v. Skill” and stand behind the authorities when they raid a local gathering place and seize the machines and any cash or collateral equipment associated with them.
So far, Pace-O-Matic’s Skill Games have been found to be legal in the state by rulings in the following courts: Beaver, Dauphin, Monroe, and York counties. Clearfield County and Delaware County reviewed the law itself and case law as created by those decisions and returned seized games without the need to go to trial and determine the facts for themselves.
Games Deemed Legal Since 2014
The Beaver County Court of Common Pleas ruling that Pace-O-Matic’s Pennsylvania Skill games are legal and games of predominant skill have stood since 2014 (ruling .PDF)
Once again a judge has ruled in favor of game providers. This time in Monroe County where the DA’s office and the BLCE carried out a raid on a small business there in 2022 and held the devices in a secure location until the gambit played out in court – again. Judge Mark said in his recent ruling that the gaming “devices are games of skill and not games of chance.”
In the same county earlier this year, prosecutors caught an earful from Monroe County Common Pleas Judge Jennifer Harlacher Sibum who scolded them for not only prosecuting non-criminal behavior but for misconduct in the investigation and prosecutions themselves. In fact, she used the withholding of crucial evidence and misrepresentation of evidence by the prosecution side of the equation as reason to suppress the actual evidence from a court hearing as the case was dismissed.
“The court finds that the Commonwealth improperly withheld and misrepresented material evidence relative to the issuance of the search warrant in this matter and that such conduct warrants the suppression of the seized property,” wrote Judge Sibum in her order dismissing the charges and ordering the return of the machines, cash, and other instruments to the rightful owners.
According to a report on G3 Newswire, Wednesday judges in York County and Dauphin County have ruled against prosecutors and the BLCE in other cases this year as well.
Pace-O-Matic got its machines, cash, and related equipment back from prosecutors in York County after it was improperly seized by the Bureau earlier in 2023. In Dauphin County, the “L” was chalked up to prosecutors there, and the “W” for POM.
In that case, Dauphin County Common Pleas Judge Andrew H. Dowling wrote, “Initially, it is this Court’s belief that the Commonwealth’s investigation shows case bias. The Commonwealth is seeking to make all machines like the POM Machines into illegal gambling devices, and their whole approach and intent is to shut down games regardless of the actual gameplay… Thus, the Commonwealth as a whole is biased against the games, and their approach lacks case credibility.”
Pace-O-Matic lawyer, Matthew Haverstick of Kleinbard, LLC, stated: “Pace-O-Matic’s Pennsylvania Skill games are legal. The Commonwealth has wrongfully seized its equipment for years with no credible evidence that the games are illegal. Judges are now carefully looking at the evidence and ruling in our favor.”
Mike Barley, Chief Public Affairs Officer for the company added, “Again, another Pennsylvania court has found that Pennsylvania Skill games, powered by Pace-O-Matic, are legal games of predominant skill. With the legality of our games upheld repeatedly, we are eager to work with the Legislature to pass legislation that will fairly regulate and tax the skill game industry. In fact, Pace-O-Matic stands out among our competitors as the active driving force seeking additional regulation and taxation.”
Pennsylvania Skill games are manufactured in the commonwealth and 90% of the profit generated from them reportedly stays inside the state. Earlier reports claim to show that “real casino” businesses are not cannibalized by play on the devices as those seeking to spend a few dollars for entertainment with potential prizes on the games visit a neighborhood mom-and-pop grocer or other stores, another nearby small business, a favorite fraternal or social club, the local volunteer fire company or a veterans’ organization without the need to plan travel, overnight accommodations, or even to plan any form of major budget expenditures.
The Same or Similar Games have been Banned by Law in Kentucky Since March 2023
The games do not enjoy the same standing in Kentucky where they were recently codified into law as unregulated and illegal.
Pennsylvania casino and lottery revenues have continued to grow year in and year out as the skill games find their way into more and more locations giving at least anecdotal evidence to advocate’s claims that it is a totally different clientele than would be found looking for flashing lights, bells and whistles, and big jackpots.
Sen. Gene Yaw who serves as Vice Chair on the Judiciary Committee in Harrisburg has introduced legislation that would tax the machines and reportedly provide some $300m a year in revenue to the commonwealth while regulating the games as well.
As part of most press releases from the company, POM often mentions that it “employs a team of former state police officers to enforce all terms of contracts and codes of conduct. These contracted terms limit the number of machines, where they are placed in a location and have protections in place to prevent anyone underage from playing the devices.”

What to Expect on Day 10 of the 2023 WSOP
Day 9 of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas took place on June 7, and saw a slew of events take place. There were seven in-play events at once stage, although only one of them crowned its champion.
June 7 will always be remembered fondly by Brian Yoon because that is the date that they came out on top in the 2023 WSOP Event #14: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship. Only 13 of the original 111 starters were present and correct on the third and final day’s action, and Yoon came out on top for the fifth bracelet of their career plus a bankroll-boosting $311,433 in prize money.

Herzali was involved in an epic hand against Shannon Shorr, a hand that extends Shorr’s long-awaited maiden bracelet event victory. The hand boosted Herzali to more than 8.7 million chips, and she added another four million betting tokens to her colossal stack before the curtain came down on Day 2.
Three bracelet holders remain in the hunt to add to their collection. However, Ian Matakis (2,270,000), John Monette (1,580,000), and Upeshka De Silva (1,105,000) and the rest of the chasing pack trail Herzali by some distance.

Being the chip leader with so few remaining players puts the ball firmly in Hrabec’s court, but victory is far from guaranteed when you look at some of the superstars that are still in the mix. They include bracelet winners Aleksejs Ponakovs (4,470,000), Joao Vieira (4,090,000), Brian Rast (3,965,000), and Kristen Foxen (2,675,000), plus such luminaries as Frank Funaro (5,065,000), Isaac Haxton (3,820,000), and Darren Elias (2,790,000).
Event #16: $25,000 High Roller (8-Handed) Chip Counts
Play resumes at 12:00 p.m. on June 8 and continues until only one player has all of the chips in play in front of them. Join PokerNews on Day 3 of the $25,000 High Roller, and discover who that player will be.
Cartwright Flying High in the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better
Only 33 of the original 1,143 entrants have chips in Event #17: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, and the top two stacks going into Day 3 belong to a pair of Kyles.
Kyle Burnside bagged up 2,345,000 chips, which are enough for the overnight chip lead, but Kyle Cartwright (2,310,000) is nipping at Burnside’s heels. Cartwright will see this tournament as his best chance to bag himself a second WSOP bracelet.
There are a handful of players heading into Day 3 that are also hunting to add to their bracelet collection. Jim Collopy (1,275,000) has a top ten stack, Giuseppe Pantaleo (1,175,000) is lurking outside the top ten, while James Obst (720,000), John Cernuto (635,000), and Nick Kost (495,000) have a little more work ahead of them when play resumes on June 8.

Monster-Sized Field Competes on Day 1a of the Gladiators of Poker
Day 1a, the first of four flights in Event #18: $300 Gladiators of Poker, attracted 3,940 players but only 129 progressed to Day 2. There is every chance that this event grows into the largest-ever WSOP bracelet-awarding tournament, as latter flights tend to be more popular with players.
Patrick White soared into the chip lead close to the end of Day 1a after winning the largest pot of the night. White’s 3,405,000 stack is joined in the three million club by Olav Prinzvonsachsen (3,085,000) and Dawn Dixon (3,045,000).
A certain six-time WSOP winner Daniel Negreanu (2,250,000) enjoyed a fruitful Day 1, bagging up 2,250,000 chips at the close of play. We are more used to seeing Negreanu in tournaments that have buy-ins far greater than $300, but he will take this event seriously after accumulating a front-running stack.

Day 1b shuffles up and deal at 10:00 a.m. on June 8, so fire up the PokerNews live reporting pages then to see how large this event’s field swells.
Day 1 of the $2,500 NLHE Freezeout Is Over; Alt Captures Early Lead
Dinesh Alt secured the chip lead in Event #19: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout, cramming 1,212,000 chips into his overnight chip bag, a figure far larger than any of the 144 surviving players.
An impressive field of 1,139 is now down to a more manageable figure, and it is Alt who is the man to catch on Day 2.
Alt’s stack is massive. Indeed, he is the only player with more than one million chips. Second-placed Byung Eun Shin (797,000) is more than 400,000 chips, or 41 big blinds, behind him.
Others who enjoyed a fruitful Day 1 and finished in the top ten included Jared Jaffee (780,000), Artem Metalidi (761,000), Adrian Mateos (758,000), and Taylor Paur (624,000).
Some of the other stars to look out for in our Day 2 updates include Matt Stout (342,000), Alexandre Reard (338,000), Marton Czuczor (337,000), Mike Sowers (288,000), Maurice Hawkins (246,000), and Niall Farrell (220,000), the latter being a Triple Crown winner.

Adam Owen Bags $1,500 Badugi Top 5 Stack
Any worries that a Badugi tournament would not be popular were soon quashed when 516 players bought into Event #20: $1,500 Badugi. Of those starters, only 183 bagged up chips at the close of play, and only four players reported stacks larger than Adam Owen.
Owen, a British mixed game specialist, finished Day 1 with a 192,000 stack. Only chip leader William Toh (239,000), Yingui Li (217,500), Adam Clegg (212,500), and Jon Turner (198,500) return to the fray on Day 2 with a more substantial arsenal.
Others to look out for on Day 2 include Adam Friedman (126,500), Daniel Zack (120,500), Brian Hastings (118,000), the in-form Chad Eveslage (109,000), and Anthony Zinno (77,000).

There are many boxing tips for betting online that we can mention. Of course, not everyone will have the same needs and preferences. You can use the navigation panel below to jump to a specific section that interests you.
There are many things to consider when betting on boxing matches. It takes some time to become a pro at it, but the process doesn’t have to be difficult. Read our tips and ease your entry into online betting.
Understand Bet Types
One of the most important boxing betting tips that we have to offer is to know what you’re doing before doing it. There are many different bet options available at the best online betting sites in the UK. Each of them covers a particular niche and will serve a specific function in your approach to betting.
Online betting sites feature a whole list of bet types. These include low- and high-risk wagers, and you can bet on just about any aspect of a given match. Knowing how each bet works and what you’re betting on will be more useful than anything else.
Have a look at the types of boxing bets and keep in mind that you will have access to many more once you get into it. If you’re just starting out, we recommend sticking to more basic bet options. Once you get the hang of it, you can try your hand at more complex wagers.
In-Play Betting
Pre-match betting is fun, but have you thought about live betting? Modern boxing betting sites give you the opportunity to place bets while the match is ongoing. You can place a wide variety of in-play wagers and benefit from dynamic odds.
With live betting, the odds change quickly, giving you the opportunity to capitalise on certain situations. To succeed in live betting, we recommend having a stable and quick Internet connection. You will need it to quickly lock in your choices at optimal odds.
Before diving into the in-play section, we recommend caution. This feature is useful, and it offers many opportunities. However, the dynamic nature of live odds can also be incredibly risky. Make sure to pick your bets carefully to avoid potential losses.
Consider the Available Boxing Betting Sites
The online gambling scene offers users unrivalled variety and options. Boxing fans from the UK have access to hundreds of legitimate and worthwhile betting sites. As such, you can always get a good deal if you’re keen on doing your research.
Betting odds are quite important, as we all know. Something you’ll find interesting is that odds tend to vary between online bookies. While the difference isn’t huge, betting at optimal odds is never a bad idea. Therefore, it makes sense to look at multiple betting sites to find the best deal.
Each operator will have different odds; some may even offer special bonuses for a particular event. You can browse the different bookies to find the most suitable options for your needs. If any specific betting site is not worth it, you don’t have to stick to it.
If you’re willing to calculate different odds, you may want to look for arbitrage opportunities. This is where the odds difference between operators creates a situation where you can make a profit regardless of the outcome. To do this, you have to find two or more betting sites and place bets at each of them.
Betting arbitrages are rare, but when available, there is no downside. If you find an odds boost deal, it is much more feasible and useful. So, make sure to keep an eye out for this kind of promotion.
Of course, we strongly advise you to visit only legitimate and trustworthy online bookies. Illegal platforms are risky, and you have no guarantees that you will receive your money. Fortunately, there are plenty of authentic platforms out there. Any operator licensed by the UK Gambling Commission is above board. There, you can be certain that you can cash out anytime and enjoy fair gambling.
Follow the Sport
All experienced bettors abide by certain strategies, and among their finest betting tips for boxing events is simply to watch the matches. It’s one thing to read about something, but watching it take place is something else. You get to witness all the small details and intricacies of the bout.
By watching two guys going at it, you will get some idea of what works in the ring and who the top boxers are. This will no doubt come in handy once you’re browsing the boxing betting markets.
We also suggest watching pre- and post-match coverage and analyses. There’s a plethora of material out there from both match organisers and third-party commentators. They offer plenty of insight which you can use to put down worthwhile bets. Additional information is always useful, especially when it comes to reliable sources.
Live Streams
One of the best betting on boxing tips that we have is that you have the opportunity to watch some matches live. The best live betting sites in the UK often feature live streaming of selected events. You can tune in to watch, provided that you have an account and some cash in your balance. Most of the time, you don’t even have to place a live bet to watch.
Statistics and Match History
Gambling boils down to a set of predictions you make about future events. One of the best ways to predict future outcomes is to look at past ones. To aid you in this, online boxing betting sites provide customers with detailed statistics and data from past matches. Using this information, you can gain an advantage and make some educated bets. Here is the kind of data that you can find:
Match outcomes
Fouls
Number of knockdowns
Number of opponents beaten
Number of fights
TKOs
Punch totals
Disqualifications
Of all boxing tips for betting, this one is arguably the most difficult to use. Statistics can be overwhelming for both new and experienced bettors. Given the amount of information on hand, it can take some time to sift through and examine all of it.
However, those bettors who manage to make sense of the numbers will be in a much better position than those without the info. Hard data allows you to see a full and clear picture of fighters and their track records. It enables you to examine what each competitor has done and possibly how future matches will play out.
Responsible Gambling
One of the most important betting tips for boxing is to follow responsible gambling practices. This involves maintaining a healthy approach to gambling and ensuring that you don’t go overboard. All legitimate boxing betting sites work with responsible gambling organisations to provide resources to customers. Initiatives, such as GamStop and Gamblers Anonymous, are free and accessible to anyone, allowing you to get educated on what gambling addiction looks like.
As for responsible betting on boxing tips, the listed organisations recommend closely monitoring your behaviour for signs of problem gambling. Some of the main symptoms include chasing losses, betting more to get the same enjoyment, missing real-world obligations to gamble, increasing the desire to gamble, and others. Gambling is fun, but don’t let it get the best of you.
