PokerNews‘ live reporting team travels far and wide to bring you live tournament updates from the biggest, richest, and most prestigious poker tournaments on the planet. Our team is jetting off to Asia at the end of April to bring you live and exclusive coverage from the eagerly anticipated Poker Dream Manila festival.

The Poker Dream tour is still in its infancy but has so far proven popular. A hugely successful debut in Malaysia in July 2022 saw the main event attract 654 entrants, who helped smash the guarantee into next week, with the prize pool finishing close to three times as much as the advertised guarantee.

PokerNews was on the ground for the Poker Dream Vietnam stop in October 2022, which saw Minh Anh Nguyen come out on top of an 822-strong field, and claim the equivalent of $139,077 of the $738,623 prize pool.

The tour then returned to Malaysia in January 2023, and saw the Main Event obliterate its guarantee once again, despite Poker Dream doubling its size. Everything points towards Poker Dream Manila being an incredible event, and PokerNews is delighted to bring you all the updates from the festival’s three most exciting tournaments.

PokerNews’ Poker Dream Manila Live Reporting Schedule

Poker Dream Manila takes place at the Newport World Resorts in Manila, Philippines, between April 26 and May 7. There are 30 action-packed tournaments and satellites running around the clock from the moment the poker room’s doors open until the last person turns off the lights.

Our coverage begins on April 30 with the Short Deck Super High Roller, a 1,380,000 PHP ($25,000) buy-in affair guaranteeing 55,000,000 PHP ($1,000,000). Short Deck is extremely popular in Asia, some say more popular than traditional Texas Hold’em, so expect a bumper crowd to turn out for this super high-stakes event.

As the Short Deck Super High Roller is wrapping up, a 500,000 PHP ($9,000) Super High Roller gets underway. Players in the Super High Roller battle it out over 40 minute levels, armed with 500,000-chip stacks, but also with unlimited re-entries until Day 2, which is all but guaranteed to create some crazy action that you do not want to miss.

Of course, as is the case with every live poker festival, it is the Poker Dream Manila Main Event that is the showpiece tournament of the schedule. Costing 66,000 PHP ($1,200), the Main Event has every chance of becoming the biggest Poker Dream Main Event yet, at least in terms of number of entrants. There is a 20,000,000 PHP ($360,000) guarantee on the Main Event prize pool, but it would be a complete shock if the final pot is not far greater. Our industry-leading coverage runs from May 4-7.
