The private sector can yet do much to drive a more sustainable future for all. Kindred Group is a good example of that after its latest climate targets were updated and validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a scientific group that seeks to help businesses contribute to protecting the environment.

Kindred Renews Environmental Targets to Meet Loftier Aspirations

SBTi’s recommendations are always aligned with the ambitious global goal of reaching the Paris Climate Change Agreement. The company has vowed to reduce its absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2027.

The Group will similarly seek to further reduce absolute scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by the same time. Kindred Group CEO Henrik Tjärnström hailed the new benchmarks and the fact that the Group was able to revise more ambitious targets. He said:

As one of the first companies in the European gambling industry to introduce science-based emission targets in 2020, we are happy to continue to break new ground and to have our adapted targets validated.

Tjärnström spoke about the urgency of the climate crisis and said that SBT plays a crucial role in helping tackle the problem. There is no time to waste, the chief executive said and added that Kindred Group absolutely must do its part. Kindred Group wants to aspire to the Paris Climate Change Agreement targets and intends to reach them, it assures.

Speaking of sustainability, Kindred Group has set many lofty targets for its business model, including the elimination of revenue that comes from problem gambling sources. The company has made its commitment to tackling this particular problem, along with its environmental aspirations, clear and will be working towards the achievement of both.
